And I'm so pleased with myself. As I browsed, I bookmarked several sites that I wanted to keep so I'll have them while in San Diego. I was on my computer so when I was done I checked to make sure that with the eerie i-Cloud, they had magically appeared in my i-Pad. And they hadn't. :( So I tried calling Chris, my go-to IT guy and didn't get him. Then I thought I'd call January and see if she could help but before doing that I got back on the computer and checked my setting for the i-Cloud and noticed that I hadn't checked hardly anything - just photos (which are showing up in my i-Pad and computer). So after thinking "hmmm..." I clicked them all and when I clicked Safari it asked me something and I answered yes. Nothing seemed to happen but after saving that, I checked the i-Pad and there were my missing bookmarks.
But then I noticed that on the i-Pad the folders that I use in several of my bookmarks (like my Travel one) were all empty. DARN!!! So I thought "hmmm..." again which worked so well the first time, went back to the computer, opened all the folders and left them open, went back to the i-Pad, and the folders were now full!
So, Mama, Mama, pin a rose on me. Or in this case, actually probably Chris, Chris! I finally managed to get something worked out by myself!! Very exciting. :)
I'm flying out of Charleston, WV airport for the very first time with a stopover in Atlanta and then on to San Diego. Friday night after the event has closed down, we are flying to San Francisco and Heather will rent a car and we'll do some wine tasting in Napa Valley. We're going back to the place she and I visited where we mixed our own wine and they bottled it and put a label of our choosing on it. Which reminds me - I have to pick out a photo for the label.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to it and I'm sure will have pictures to share.
And I didn't take any pictures but this past week, I made my little naan pizzas twice and continue to be pleased with them. They are so quick and so very tasty after being baked in my little toaster oven. The first one was a hummus base topped with thin rings of red and yellow sweet peppers and some chopped Greek style olives and Feta cheese. Was-a good-a pizza! I had also made a half batch of my ancient spaghetti and meatballs recipe so for the second one, I used a a bit of that sauce for the base, more of the peppers, a modest amount of chopped onion, oh - and a bit of ham f(rom my deli ham that was sliced thicker than I like for sandwiches), and a bit of the black olives again. Covered it fairly thoroughly with fine grated cheddar and Mama-mia, it was tasty!
Speaking of cooking, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I finally worked up the nerve to try the "master recipe" from "The New Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes" cookbook that January and Maggie gave me for Christmas. And so far, it's going the way the book describes. In about an hour it will go in the fridge overnight and then when I get home from my Sunday morning Starbucks, I will try and form a loaf with it and get it in the oven. Sure would be great if it works, but if it doesn't it was a first attempt and I'll just try again. Here it is all puffed up in its special straight-sided "bucket". See the little holes on top? That's a good sign and it seems to just keep rising!
Oh!!! and probably my biggest accomplishment this week was getting my trip "pages" (the tabs at the top for each of my overseas trips) to work again. I was horrified to discover when I went to look something up on one of them that instead of the whole trip coming up in beginning to end order like I had fixed it to (with special HTML language from a guy in Finland!) all it would say was "loading...please wait". I had no idea why and started Googling, asking questions on their forum, digging around and finally finding the Finnish guy's site where I got the language in the first place. After a bunch of e-mails back and forth, he finally discovered - after nothing he suggested seemed to help - that Blogger had changed or stopped something and that was the problem. And, bless his heart, he fixed his language so it would work again! I can't imagine having a brain that can do that but I sure am glad he did. I realize I'm actually probably the only person that uses the pages (except maybe a random visitor who comes across the blog now and then), but I really like having the whole trip in one spot and in chronological order. If you don't use that special language, you can still have the page for the trip but when you open it it would be in last day to first day order.
So, all this is just a bunch of blather without a single picture. No wait, I know what picture I can post...
The winery where we'll be making our own red blend was so outlandishly elegant that it was a real hoot. They had a tasting room that was all red velvet and they had this "dog house" for their dogs. I cut the bottom of the photo off for possible use as a label but this is the back wall of the "house" and there are five big kennels below. Ca-razy! but fun.
