About Me

When I started my retirement travels in 2009, I wanted a way to share it with family and friends as it was happening. Hence, "My Travel Journal". However I realized I wouldn't always be on a trip and wondered what to do with the blog in between times. My daughter pointed out, wisely, that travels can also include trips to the kitchen to try a new recipe, trips to visit family, trips to my neighborhood Starbucks, or a fun day trip with a friend. You're welcome to join me on any of these journeys! I've set up individual pages for each of my major trips (see tabs above).

Also, I have an Etsy shop where my current needlework resides. The last pieces I posted here were in 2013! So if you'd like to see what I have accomplished recently, go to (and I apologize for having to copy and paste):

I recently added an "Italian Word a Day" thingie which shows up at the bottom of every page. You see the word and can click to hear it pronounced. I've been enjoying it and I think my accent is improving as time goes by.

Merry Christmas from downtown Huntington two nights ago. And a big apology for the blurriness of the picture! Between my shaky hands, holding an umbrella, a book, and my purse sliding down from my shoulder, this was the best I could do. But I'm just so tickled with the lights on this building, I had to share. Puts us right up there with NYC (tee hehe) and its Chrysler Building(?), Empire State Building(?).  I know one of them is all lit up and the colors change depending on holidays and whatever else.

Whatever holiday you celebrate, I hope it is a happy time with lots of good food, laughter, and love!

I'm at Chris's now, having arrived yesterday late afternoon. Tomorrow afternoon we will go to January and Maggie's house, spend the night there, and after opening presents Christmas morning and a nice Christmas breakfast that Maggie is planning, we'll head up to Heather's to have Christmas dinner with them which I'm told will be a seafood paella this year!! Johnny will be spending Christmas with his dad in Seattle so I won't get to see him, but I'm going to go to Massachusetts on January 4 to visit my sister and her husband in their new home and will come back here in time to help January celebrate her 40th birthday (my baby!) so I'll get to see Johnny then maybe. So I have a lot to look forward to.
