After my post below, it quit snowing for the rest of the day and into the evening. It's about 11:30 p.m. now and I decided to check things outside my window and it is really coming down again. So pretty with all the streetlights. It reminded me of my childhood when I went through my phase of writing poetry and wrote this "ode to snow" or maybe it's an "ode to winter" or who knows? I don't remember if I gave it a title. :)
Snow is falling, very white,
winter is such a pretty sight;
plants are resting, trees are bare,
how glad I am the snow is there.
And like most of the poems I wrote then, one really is almost compelled to say Burma Shave at the end of this one!
I loved it when it snowed when I was young and then as I got older and had to get up and go to work in the morning, I didn't find it so lovely, nor was I very glad it was there (unless it was so bad I couldn't get to work). But now, as an old retired lady, I can just enjoy every minute of it and especially this close to Christmas, it has been delightful.
About Me

- When I started my retirement travels in 2009, I wanted a way to share it with family and friends as it was happening. Hence, "My Travel Journal". However I realized I wouldn't always be on a trip and wondered what to do with the blog in between times. My daughter pointed out, wisely, that travels can also include trips to the kitchen to try a new recipe, trips to visit family, trips to my neighborhood Starbucks, or a fun day trip with a friend. You're welcome to join me on any of these journeys! I've set up individual pages for each of my major trips (see tabs above).
Also, I have an Etsy shop where my current needlework resides. The last pieces I posted here were in 2013! So if you'd like to see what I have accomplished recently, go to (and I apologize for having to copy and paste):

I recently added an "Italian Word a Day" thingie which shows up at the bottom of every page. You see the word and can click to hear it pronounced. I've been enjoying it and I think my accent is improving as time goes by.

Yes, I love the snow, too. But not so much when I have to work. And not so much when I have 4 little dogs to take out that get snowballs stuck all over them!
Love the poem! A little jealous of you sitting there all cozy while the rest of us slugs are out here slurping through the day!
Amen, Jamie!!
We got snow here too, finally... a bit of a let-down after last year's infamous blizzard with 20 inches... yesterday we got about 2 inches. They're suggesting we might get another light coating Sunday night. Perhaps a White Christmas is in store for us!
You're pretty adorable, Mama. :)
