About Me

When I started my retirement travels in 2009, I wanted a way to share it with family and friends as it was happening. Hence, "My Travel Journal". However I realized I wouldn't always be on a trip and wondered what to do with the blog in between times. My daughter pointed out, wisely, that travels can also include trips to the kitchen to try a new recipe, trips to visit family, trips to my neighborhood Starbucks, or a fun day trip with a friend. You're welcome to join me on any of these journeys! I've set up individual pages for each of my major trips (see tabs above).

Also, I have an Etsy shop where my current needlework resides. The last pieces I posted here were in 2013! So if you'd like to see what I have accomplished recently, go to (and I apologize for having to copy and paste):

I recently added an "Italian Word a Day" thingie which shows up at the bottom of every page. You see the word and can click to hear it pronounced. I've been enjoying it and I think my accent is improving as time goes by.

Perfect Timing!

I made a big pot of chili tonight and turned on the TV while waiting for it to be ready to eat and found out we're under a "winter storm advisory" and may be getting anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of snow starting tomorrow through the next two or three days! I say bring it on! ... As long as it doesn't interfere with any of my plans. :) I'm having two little get-togethers this coming week and would hate to have them cancelled cause of bad roads and such. Plus, January and Maggie are coming here for Christmas which I'm really looking forward to and I guess if it's a really snowy Christmas, they'll just have to rent a snow plow for the trip!

So, I've been wrapping presents, looking at recipes and planning what to make for my "social functions" all of which is fun and frazzling at the same time.

No pictures or new recipes or anything - just got excited when I saw the weather report while smelling my chili.

Hope anyone who happens to read this is also looking forward to a festive holiday with lots of quality time with family and friends, lots of good food, and lots of whatever kind of weather you like.

Hi Mary Lynne, hope the snow doesn't stop your guests arriving. Meanwhile on the other side of the world we are having glorious summer weather and also rain (very unusual to have so much rain!). But also looking forward to family and friends over the Christmas period - it is the long school holidays for us (6 weeks) so we will see both daughters and all the grandchildren. Have a wonderful time; I know everyone will enjoy your lovely cooking!
Hugs,
Sandra
