- When I started my retirement travels in 2009, I wanted a way to share it with family and friends as it was happening. Hence, "My Travel Journal". However I realized I wouldn't always be on a trip and wondered what to do with the blog in between times. My daughter pointed out, wisely, that travels can also include trips to the kitchen to try a new recipe, trips to visit family, trips to my neighborhood Starbucks, or a fun day trip with a friend. You're welcome to join me on any of these journeys! I've set up individual pages for each of my major trips (see tabs above).

I recently added an "Italian Word a Day" thingie which shows up at the bottom of every page. You see the word and can click to hear it pronounced. I've been enjoying it and I think my accent is improving as time goes by.

TA-DI-DA-DA-DA!!!
The men from Lowe's just left with the damaged vanity/sink top in its incredibly bulky box which had been sitting in my living room, the plumber has been here and gone, and I may just spend the evening in my bathroom - maybe take in a chair, a glass of wine and a good book! :)
I love it, love it, love it!! The plumber couldn't find his miter box so we were unable to trim my two baseboard pieces that are too long for the new vanity, but who CARES??? Not me...I'll find a miter box somewhere, sometime. Meanwhile, ain't she purty?

I can't even remember the prior one now... woohoo!! Congratulations on having it all behind you, and a working sink for Virginia's visit! ;) What a relief!
Well, the old one was not memorable, that's for sure. Pretty ugly, overall. Its only good point was that it had two drawers. But I'm going to do a little search for some type of stackable drawer or two that I can put in one side of this little beauty. :)
And, yep, I bet Chinch will sleep better knowing that she doesn't have to brush her teeth in the kitchen sink!

Oh, and I forgot to point out in the post - you'll notice my Italy travel guide book behind the faucet. That's because the plumber said the backsplash had to be pressed up against the wall and suggested a book. Tried several and finally found that Italy took care of it which didn't surprise me at all.
Loves it! It is gorgeous. I think a night soaking in the tub with a nice glass of wine is in order!
It looks fabulous!! I wasn't really sure that I'd like the dark wood but I think it looks great -- also the 8" faucets look really good. Very spiffy. I'll be quite the happy guest (and would have been even at the kitchen sink). xoxo
I know - I really wanted the dark wood but I did worry that it might be too much against the dark wall but I'm just so happy with it it's hard to stay out of there! Wish I had taken a picture of the old setup...
Gorgeous!!! And thank goodness you have that nightmare over and done with. Actually the darkwood really pops against that wall color. So happy for you!!!
