I've mentioned a couple of times the 144 remaining Art Deco metro stops. Well, I was reading my guidebook again this morning and find that the original number of these stops was 141 (don't know why I thought 144) and...there are "only a few survivors". So, that makes me even happier that I've found two of them. I should Google and see if I can find where the others are - maybe look them up. My book also says that one is at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. Something for your next trip, Chris?

- When I started my retirement travels in 2009, I wanted a way to share it with family and friends as it was happening. Hence, "My Travel Journal". I recently added an "Italian Word a Day" thingie which shows up at the bottom of every page. You see the word and can click to hear it pronounced. I've been enjoying it and I think my accent is improving as time goes by.

...Maybe I saw the museum one in NYC, not DC... They are spectacular. I wish we (ie, society) still engaged artists in creating our public works - particularly monumental ironwork!
