About Me

When I started my retirement travels in 2009, I wanted a way to share it with family and friends as it was happening. Hence, "My Travel Journal". However I realized I wouldn't always be on a trip and wondered what to do with the blog in between times. My daughter pointed out, wisely, that travels can also include trips to the kitchen to try a new recipe, trips to visit family, trips to my neighborhood Starbucks, or a fun day trip with a friend. You're welcome to join me on any of these journeys! I've set up individual pages for each of my major trips (see tabs above).

Also, I have an Etsy shop where my current needlework resides. The last pieces I posted here were in 2013! So if you'd like to see what I have accomplished recently, go to (and I apologize for having to copy and paste):

I recently added an "Italian Word a Day" thingie which shows up at the bottom of every page. You see the word and can click to hear it pronounced. I've been enjoying it and I think my accent is improving as time goes by.

A Beautiful Evening!

I went up on the roof around 8:30 and it was gorgeous up there. A real breeze blowing, not hot at all - in fact, a little chilly by the time I came down a short while ago. And an incredibly beautiful sky. I'm certainly aware of the fact that even good photographers with great camera have a hard time doing justice to sunsets, but I took pictures anyway - had my phone and couldn't resist. So, I'll share them with you and you can let your imagination tell you how glorious it was.

And tonight I finished a little piece of cross stitch for the lady in Texas for whom I've done several other pieces. Gosh, that's an awkward sentence. But, whatever - I'm happy it's done and think I may actually get started on my half scale kitchen project. Or maybe more needlework - I do enjoy it once I get started.

Wow! That is pretty gorgeous. We had stunning weather here this afternoon/evening (perhaps the nicest night of the year so far) but not much in the way of sunset... Not like this!

These are incredible - did you really take them with your phone???

Thanks guys! I'm surprised too by what good pictures I can get with my phone. I sometimes seem to do better with it than with my camera, I think cause with the camera I tend to fiddle with the settings and such and with the phone - there's nothing I can fiddle with which is probably a good thing. :)
