About Me

When I started my retirement travels in 2009, I wanted a way to share it with family and friends as it was happening. Hence, "My Travel Journal". However I realized I wouldn't always be on a trip and wondered what to do with the blog in between times. My daughter pointed out, wisely, that travels can also include trips to the kitchen to try a new recipe, trips to visit family, trips to my neighborhood Starbucks, or a fun day trip with a friend. You're welcome to join me on any of these journeys! I've set up individual pages for each of my major trips (see tabs above).

Also, I have an Etsy shop where my current needlework resides. The last pieces I posted here were in 2013! So if you'd like to see what I have accomplished recently, go to (and I apologize for having to copy and paste):

I recently added an "Italian Word a Day" thingie which shows up at the bottom of every page. You see the word and can click to hear it pronounced. I've been enjoying it and I think my accent is improving as time goes by.

Just to show up in your inbox...

A little note so any of you who just signed up in the last week or two will see how it works when I do a post to my blog.  I'm sending this out at 11:50 a.m. EST on Friday,  Oct. 16.  I know they only send posts once each day (apparently some bloggers have more than one post a day!) and I'm not sure but I think it may be around midnight EST,  so this will most likely show up in USA inboxes by Saturday morning.

I'm being very efficient and getting my mail put on hold, making sure my bank and two credit card companies know where I'm going and finding out when I called them that I need to set up pins for them because they're both the new chip type, doing laundry, etc.  I'll get the laundry all done today hopefully and tomorrow will be packing.

Then Sunday I'll hit the road to Chris in VA, spend Sunday and Monday night there, and then January will take me to the Baltimore airport on Tuesday.  Thank heavens for wonderful children, right??

So, until Spain....adios!

P.S. - if you just happened across this post and would like to get my posts from Spain and Italy, you can use the "get my posts by e-mail" gadget above.  The post below this one explains how that works.
